Robert T. Speece, 92, of North Maple Avenue, Kingston, died Sunday in Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre where he had been a guest.

Born on March 22, 1915, in Kingston, he was the son of the late LeGrande and Gertrude McKernan Speece.

He attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Kingston High School.

He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations, and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the Medal of Valor.

He resided on Pierce Street, Kingston, for many years. Prior to retirement, he was a salesman in the building products division for the W.R Grace Company of New York.

Mr. Speece was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, and served as an usher.

He was also a member of its Holy Name Society and belonged to the American Legion Black Diamond Post 395 Kingston.

He was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program, Kingston, and the Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the American Red Cross.

A community-minded individual, he served on various civic committees for the Borough of Kingston.

His wife of 65 years, the former Margaret Rogan, died on Jan. 21, 2006.

Also preceding him in death were brothers, William and F. Murray and a great-grandson, Connor Rogan Plank.

Surviving is a son, R. Murray, Richmond, Va.; daughters, Ellen Preece, Dallas; MaryLee Klemish, Kingston; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9 from Hugh P. Boyle and Son Funeral Home Inc., 333 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Ignatius Church.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends may call Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program, 190 S. Sprague Ave., Kingston, PA 18704.
