Our beautiful mother, Marilyn Cabrera (nee Gennetti) passed into eternity on Saturday, November 5th in her home of nearly sixty years in Media, Pennsylvania. She was 81.

Marilyn was born in Philadelphia, PA and was the youngest child of the late William and Elizabeth Gennetti (nee Scotese). She grew up in South Philadelphia near Broad and Reed. She attended St Rita’s
Church and Gwyned Mercy Academy. Marilyn is a graduate of Temple University where she studied Early Childhood Education and earned her teaching credentials.

Marilyn and her husband of nearly forty-six years, Manuel M Cabrera, were married in 1956 and lived briefly in New York City before relocating to Media with their young daughter and expanding their family in Media circa 1960. Marilyn taught for nearly thirty years, most of those years teaching at St Roberts’s Elementary School in Chester, PA primarily teaching 3rd and 4th grades.

Marilyn was a creative mother, grandmother, and teacher. Over the years she’s shared many stories of her younger years during the Great Depression, the war (WWII), and her life growing up in her South
Philadelphia home. She loved crafting, ceramics, puzzles, and reading mystery novels.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Manuel who passed away in 2001, and both her sisters Elizabeth Moran and Evelyn Poe.

Marilyn is survived by her four children, Marilyn D’Auria, Manuel
Cabrera Jr, William Cabrera, and Lisa Cabrera. Marilyn is also survived by her six grandchildren, Evan, Eric,
and Ellen Lockwood, Rocco and Carmen Cabrera, and Alex Cabrera. She is also survived by her brother William Gennetti , her son-in law Lt. Col John C. D’Auria, her daughter-in-law Donna Cabrera and her
grand-daughter-in-law Tiffany Lockwood. Marilyn is also survived by many beloved extended family members, and friends.
