William Samuel Johnston Obituary was published in the Feb 4, 1938 issue of the Blount County Weekly Newspaper It erroneously spells his name as Johnson

Mr Sam Johnston, a lifelong resident of Oneonta and vicinity, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs R. E. Williams in Dekalb County, where he was visiting on Feb 18, 1938. Stomache trouble was the immediate cause of death.

The remains were brought to Locust Fork and interred at Pine Bluff Church. Rev. Jordan and Rev Fendlty had charge of the service.Mr Johnston was born and reared in Blount County and had spent 75 years, his age at the time of death, in and around Oneonta. He had been in Dekalb County only a short while, visiting his daughter when the end came.

He leaves his widow Dollie, three sons, Cephus, Oliver, and J C Johnston; two daughters, Mrs R D Blackmon of Oneonta and Mrs R E Williams of Lebanon in Dekalb County.

He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
