Henry Bolton was a slave of Mrs. Anna Bolton. He was 5'10" tall and had a slight build, weighing around 170 pounds.

He enlisted in Co. F, USCT, Nov 30, 1863, in Jefferson City, MO and was discharged 31 Mar 1866, in Brownsville, Texas

He suffered a myriad of health problems as a result of the war and collected a pension of $4 per month in 1888, increased to $6 in 1891 and $8 in 1903. He was unable to perform hard labor because of his debility.

He married Sophronia Huttson 26 Jun 1871 in Jefferson City Missouri; Squire Roetzer performing the marriage. They had one daughter, Nellie, who married Andrew Graham 1 Dec 1885.

Henry lived behind the home of Thomas Miller Winston, Jr., at 308 E. Dunklin Street and did occasional light work for him.
