Mary was born May 3, 1936 in Cherokee, Iowa to Jacob and Nettie (Myers) Scherr. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Timberlake, South Dakota where she grew up, attended school and graduated.
Mary married Leland Salisbury December 29, 1960. They were blessed with two children.
Together they made their home in Huron, South Dakota, moving to South Sioux City, Nebraska in 1972.
Over the years, Mary worked at E.N. Swett School in South Sioux City.
Sadly, Leland died in 2004.
Mary was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. She enjoyed playing cards and loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their school activities.
Mary A. Salisbury, 82, of South Sioux City, Nebraska died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at her daughter's home in Sioux City, Iowa.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, LeAnn (Matthew) Gladden of Sioux City and a son, James R. Salisbury in Germany; 5 grandchildren: James E. Salisbury of South Sioux City, Justin (Amber) Salisbury of South Sioux City, Kristina Miller of Sioux City, Jessica (Mitch) Monroe of Sioux City and Amber Dobbs of Sioux City; 15 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Lexi, Ivory, Leland (LJ), Trinity, Addisyn, Gracelynn, Madison, Braylon, Jordan, Jaxon, Joshua, Kyra, Leena and Temperance; 3 brothers: Joe, Jack and Irvin Scherr and a sister, Ann Herman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Joyce Scherr.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00, with a prayer service at 4:00 on Sunday, June 24, at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic Church Cemetery.
