Born November 8, 1932 in Yancey County to the late John Wellington and Myrtle Belle Garner Atkins, she was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J B Taylor.
Survivors include a son, Ronald "Ronnie" Jay Taylor, and wife, Susan, of Marion; a daughter, Karen Taylor Burleson, and husband, Tommy, of Nebo; and five granddaughters: Lacy Jay Taylor, of Raleigh, Ossie Blankenship, of Pensacola, NC, Kathleen Farr, of Swannanoa, and Emma-Lee Hutchins and Louise Fisher, both of Black Mountain.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2001 at Westmoreland Chapel.
The Rev. Ray Stockton officiated and burial was in McDowell Memorial Park.
The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Mountain Ridge Wellness Center c/o Patient Activities Laura Robinson 315 Old US 70 East Black Mountain, NC 28711 . Westmoreland Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
