Shirley A. Ryder, age 79, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Rock Haven Nursing Home. She was born in Elgin, IL on August 13, 1938, the daughter of Joseph J. and Adeline (Jacobek) Dvorak. She married Patrick Ryder on May 17, 1958. Shirley was a loving wife and mother. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed working on her family tree and worked flagging and communications at sport car races around the Midwest for 30 years. She loved her golden retriever “grand dogs.” Shirley is survived by her husband; children: Jim (Kim) Ryder and Patrick (Sondra Ryder) Ryder Jr.; sister, Joan Wymer; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
