Charles M. Alberto, Sr. passed away on November 18, 2014. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years Carolyn; sons Charles M. Alberto, Jr. (Bonnie), James Alberto (Carol) Michael Alberto (Nancy): daughters, Janice Keil, Cara Jokell, Lisa Roden (James); 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mr. Alberto was born on January 17, 1927. Upon graduation from high school he matriculated at the Virginia Military Institute. After serving in World War II, he attended Seton Hall University and also received a Masters degree in Management from Lynchburg College. He volunteered for active duty at the onset of the Korean conflict. In 1953, he separated as a Captain and remained in the active reserve until 1964. Mr. Alberto joined Dow Chemical in 1953 and thereafter held management positions at Celanese, BVD and United Merchants. In 1973, he joined Bassett-Walker as Senior Vice President and Technical Director. After retirement he taught at CPCC and began a consulting company. He also served as a member of the International Executive Service Corps in Cairo, Egypt assisting in quality improvements for the Egyptian government's textile mills. Mr. Alberto was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Visitation will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, November 21, 2014 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am.
