She was born May 25, 1921, in Garnett, the daughter of Timothy B. and Minnie Bell (Cotton) Ryan.
Mrs. Torneden was a homemaker.
She married Richard Torneden on June 13, 1939, in Olathe. They later divorced.
Survivors include a son, Melvin Torneden, Lawrence; a daughter, Doris Wilson, Lawrence; a brother, Carl Ryan, Lawrence; a sister, Athalie "Peg" Lutz, Lawrence; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
