Hugh was the husband of Cassiah (Ralya) Morris (b. 1796). They had at least three children together including: Henry Perry Morris (1828-1928), Rachel (Morris) Wescott (1835-1916) and James Bartlett Morris (1836-1919). Hugh also had a son with Cassiah's younger sister, Mary Ralya (1800-1880). (Mary never married.) Their son was Mark Morris (1830-1914).

Hugh was born between 1801-1810 in Ireland and died between 1836 and 1847, most likely in Ohio or Pennsylvania. He was living in Cussewago Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania in 1830 with a wife, presumably, and two boys between the ages of 0-5. He died between 1836 and June of 1847. Currently, we are unsure of Hugh's parentage and exactly when he came to Pennsylvania, however, this is a record of a Hugh Morris coming from St. Johns in New Brunswick, Canada and arriving in Philadelphia on the Brig Joseph and Mary on July 28, 1819. It is possible that is him. It is also possible that Hugh died in Ohio. His daughter, Rachel, was supposedly born in Ohio in April 1834 and his son, James, was supposedly born in Ohio in October 1835, however, both Rachel and Henry and his other son, Mark, are all back in Pennsylvania by 1850.

I believe that Hugh and his family may have been living in Euclid, Cuyahoga County, Ohio from at least 1833 to late 1836 or 1837. There is a Hugh Morris who owned land in Euclid and sold his 50 acres of land to John Wilcox, Jr. on October 1, 1836. Hugh's children - Rachel, who is listed as an orphan in 1847 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania), Henry and Mark were all back in Pennsylvania by about 1847. If Hugh died in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, it is possible he is buried at Stop 8 Cemetery in Euclid (now abandoned). This cemetery is located on the same tract of land that Hugh lived on. Many of the people who were buried in this cemetery were moved to Euclid Cemetery, however, there are still people buried there, so there are several unknown burials at that cemetery that was active in the 1830's and 1840's.

Please note: The birth date I have listed comes from a record in the Irish baptism records for Dublin Ireland. A Hugh Morris was baptised on December 25, 1801 who was the son of a Mary Bryne (or Mary Byrne Morris). The copy of the record is very blurry and difficult to read. My family history from Henry Morris, the son of Hugh Morris, is that Henry stated his father was born in Ireland. The census records indicate that Hugh was born between 1801 and 1810 making this record from Dublin baptismal records possible.
