Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of David Stebbins and Barbara Landon Bacon, of Savannah, Ga.
David graduated from Effingham, Co. High School. He received his paramedic certification through Rescue Training Incorporated, and his Critical Care Paramedic Certification through the University of Baltimore Maryland. He received his certified Flight Paramedic Certification, and his National Tactical Paramedic Certification, and was a Nationally Certified EMT- Paramedic. Regional One, in Spartanburg, currently employed him as a Flight Paramedic.
He taught Advanced Cardiac Life Support, was a Lieutenant and preceptor for Med-Star in Savannah, Ga., and was a paramedic preceptor for Greenville County EMS. He also performed training activities for Regional One in Spartanburg.
David volunteered with the First Responders, and the local fire department in Rincon, Ga. He also volunteered with Savannah Police Department's Emergency Response Team and many other charitable events.
Preceding David in death were his grandparents, Philip and Virginia Bacon, and Raymond and Alice Marie Landon.
Surviving, including his parents, are his wife, Stephanie Kocher Bacon, of the home; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary C. Kocher, of Rincon, Ga., and Kim D. Clayton, of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandmother, Hazel I. Kocher, of Rincon, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Tiffany R. Cortez, and her husband, Jose C. Cortez, of Macon, Ga.; a brother-in-law, Gary C. Kocher, of Atlanta, Ga.; nephews, Austin E. and Nathan A. Cortez; nieces, Ashley A. Cortez and Aona Gaboric; and many other loving family members.
Services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 3:30 p.m. at Mauldin First Baptist Church, with Dr. Gary Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park.
Visitation will be this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville County Emergency Medical Service Fund, 301 University Ridge, Suite #1100, Greenville, S.C.
The family will be at the home.
