James "Jim" Guy Layton Jr., age 90, of Denison, Texas passed away on Friday June 8, 2018 after his battle with cancer. James was born Friday May 4, 1928 in Denison, Texas to James G. Layton, Sr. and Bertha Faye Ruth Layton. Jim married Mary Louise Aday on Saturday January 28, 1950. He served in city government in Denison and in Borger, Texas for almost 50 years.
Visitation was Thursday June 14, 2018 from 6pm to 7pm at Bratcher Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Friday June 15, 2018 at 2pm at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cindy Griffin and Horace Groff officiating. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
James is survived by; son Steve Layton & wife Karen of Plano, Texas; and son David Layton & wife Pam of Borger, Texas; granddaughter Kimberly Layton; step-grandchildren Brad Robertson, Brittany Robertson, Shannon Robertson; step-great grandchildren, Saige Young and Kealy Robertson.
James was preceded in death by his wife Mary Layton of 63 years and his parents.
