I admire my dad for his talent, knowledge and skills . . . just to name a few. He probably began his path toward being an engineer at an early age when he found a manual drill in one of the outbuildings at his grandparent's farm. He drilled several holes in the wall just to see how it worked. Apparently he never got in trouble for that. He also enjoyed shooting his BB gun and developed a marksmanship that enabled him to become a sharpshooter while in the Corp at Texas A&M. While in the Army, he was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain. During his career as a civilian, I believe he primarily designed assembly lines for the steel plants where he worked. While I was still living at home, I recall him spending many hours building a boat as well as restoring 2 cars. This passion continued after his retirement with the building of clocks and model ships. His dedication to his work and interests has inspired me to always do my best in life.
