J. Robert “Bob” Driggs

Early Life: Bob was born March 19, 1931, in San Francisco, California, to Golden Kenneth and Maude Macdonald Driggs. He graduated from Stockton High School in Stockton, California, where he served as student body president.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: As a student at Brigham Young University, he was an officer in the Blue Key Honor Society and a member of the Student Body Executive Council. Bob graduated from BYU in 1956 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in business management. Bob did graduate work at Harvard University, graduating in 1958 with a master's degree in business administration. He married Carmen Carolyn "Gay" Peters on June 6, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have five children. As an active member of the LDS Church, Bob served as a full-time missionary in the Argentine Mission from 1951 to 1953. With his wife, Carolyn, at his side, Bob also served as bishop, high councilor, stake president, president of the Andes Peru Mission from 1971 to 1974, and president of the Montevideo Uruguay LDS Temple from 2003 to 2006. He served as a counselor in the presidency of the Provo Missionary Training Center, as executive secretary in the Chile Area presidency, as a counselor in the presidency of the Utah Provo Mission, and as a sealer in the Provo Utah LDS Temple. In addition, he served as a member of several general church writing committees. Bob spent his career in the field of corporate finance in the San Francisco, Phoenix, and Salt Lake metropolitan areas and as an administrator at Brigham Young University. He was an avid supporter of BYU and served as President Elect of the BYU Alumni Association and President of the BYU Emeriti Alumni Association. He ended his professional career retiring from Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation in Salt Lake City, where he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. J. Robert "Bob" Driggs passed away peacefully at home in Provo, Utah, on June 12, 2018. He was 87 years of age.
Survived By: His wife, Carolyn; their five children: James (Dina), Paul (Lauri), Sondra (Trevan MacArthur), Tiffany (Charles Rich), and Valerie (Bret Sorensen); 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four siblings: Barbara Driggs Davis, Dianne Driggs Montgomery, Gloria Driggs West Anderson and G. Kenneth Driggs.
Preceded In Death By: His parents; brother, Don Wallace Driggs, two grandchildren: Kate and Thomas Sorensen; and one great-granddaughter, Mya Wangia.
