Jake was saved and baptized as a young man. He was a longtime member and deacon of Manes Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting farm equipment. He farmed all of his life, both beef and dairy farming. Jake and Azalee checked and fed cows together almost every day. He enjoyed working and loved his farm. He was not one to sit around the house.
