Merrill John Dyson, 85, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born February 8, 1933 to John H. and Janet W. Dyson; he was an only child. He graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College. He lived in Hooper and West Point, Utah.

On May 25, 1956, Merrill married the love of his life, Geraldine Edwards. Their marriage was solemnized on August 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children, Lorraine (Brad) Lund, Bruce M. (Ellen) Dyson, Mark (Janae) Dyson, Mary Ann (Mark) Cecotti and Amy Lyn Trease. He has 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Merrill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked for the railroad, IRS, and retired from Hill Air Force Base. After his retirement, he stayed busy working at ZCMI and Walmart. Merrill enjoyed hiking camping, woodworking and working on automobiles. What he loved most of all was visiting with family and the many friends he made wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Geri, son, Bruce, son-in-law, Brad K. Lund, grandson, Michael Cecotti and great-grandson, Tuck Reed.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Family Tree Assisted Living in West Point. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Lakeside Stake Center, 855 North 4000 West, West Point. The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center.
