On June 14, 1952 in Oates, Missouri, Gene was united in marriage to Loretta Barton and to this loving union three children were born. Gene was a member of the Locust Grove United Baptist Church. He was the song leader of the Central MO Association of United Baptist for over 20 years and of Locust Grove for many more than that. Gene also was the leader of the Youth for Christ for 29 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and his hobbies included singing, hunting, fishing, and gardening, yard work and cutting wood. Gene’s greatest joy was spending time with his loving family.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ricky Reese, two brothers, Melvin ”Bud” Reese, James “Peewee” Reese, and two sisters, Geneva Wisdom, and Belinda Louise Reese.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Loretta Reese of Oates, Missouri, one daughter, Veronica Bone and husband Howard of Boss, Missouri, Ray Reese and wife Lorna of Lesterville, Missouri, four grandchildren, Lori, Lucas, Madeline and Emma, two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Brady, one brother, Johnnie Reese and wife Janet of St. Louis, Missouri, and one sister, Ruth Brewer of Hillsboro, Missouri, and one sister-in-law, Imogene Johnson of Lesterville, Missouri, Gene will be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives along with his church family that will mourn his passing.
