Roberta Ellison, 91, of Richmond passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at her home. She was born on March 5, 1927 in McKee County, Kentucky to the late Charles S. Marcum and Margaret Farmer Marcum. On December 24, 1945 she married Robert W. Ellison in Connersville, they were able to spend forty eight years together before he passed away June 27, 1993.
Roberta had a devotion to her family that was beyond measure. She spent her years as a farmer, working in retail sales, and being a home maker. She enjoyed planting flowers, sewing, and doing crafts. For several years she was the Union County Sheriff’s Matron.
She is survived by four daughters, Loretta (Gene) Steffens, Jackie Sorrell, Linda House, and Sandra Hansen; seven grandchildren, Jason (Savonna) Sorrell, Shannon (Andy) Brown, Matt Hansen, Ryan (Sarah) Templeton, Robbi Lin (Roy) West, Zack ( Cassie) Hansen, and Erica (Patrick) Brown; ten great grandchildren, Chloe Brown, Gabriel Sorrell, Lane Brown, Caden Creech, Kale Hansen, Alivia Templeton, Tory Logan West, Brady Brown, Lliam Hansen, and Roman Templeton; and a dearest companion Robert Ponder.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by, four brothers, Elvis Marcum, Olvis Marcum, Ermal Marcum, and Charles Marcum; and two sisters, Emeree Abercrombie and Nelda Ellison.
Visitation for Roberta will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Scott Bell, of Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
