John Morrow Yearwood, son of Elijah Yearwood and Prudence Morrow, was born August 5, 1843 in Monroe County, Tennessee. He came to Johnson County, Arkansas, with the family about 1853. In the Civil War, he served as 2nd lieutenant in 10th Regiment Arkansas Militia and later he served in the 26th Arkansas Infantry, CSA. In October 1867 he married Jane Ward, daughter of David Ward and Agnes Shropshire White. Their children include the following: Walter L. Yearwood; Robert Pascal Yearwood; John A. Yearwood; Mary Lucy Yearwood Walton; and Ethel Lena Yearwood Griffin.
