Edward Delk, enjoyed making furniture
LORAIN - Edward Delk, 74 of Lorain, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born in Wolf River, Tenn. And moved to the Lorain area as a young man.
Delk served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, serving with the 39th Station Complement Squadron during World War II. He received one Service Stripe, three Overseas Service Bars, the American Defense Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
He worked for 28 years in the Ford Motor Co., Lorain maintenance departmant in commercial ??(cut off)?? retiring in 1988.
Delk was a member of the Christian Life Church, Lorain. He enjoyed woodworking, and making furniture, gardening and reading.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Wilma; daughters Mrs, Linda Barron and Mrs. Brenda Trimble, both of Lorain, and Sandra E. Hale of Brownhelm Township; stepson, Bill R. Whited of Chandler, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Selby of Jamestown, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. And Ida (nee Brooks); and brothers Oplis, Earl and Walter.
Arrangements were handled by Reidy-Scanlan-Dooner Funeral Home, Lorain.
