Jerry Curtis Berwager, of Hanover, PA died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his home at the age of 85.

Born in Hanover, he was the son of Harley G.E. and Anna Virginia (Markle) Berwager. Jerry was the loving husband of the late Maria Agnes (Wolf) Berwager, who died July 19, 2013 and with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage.

Jerry graduated from Brush Run Elementary School, Adams County, New Oxford High School in 1951, Thompson Business College, York, PA in 1956 as well as numerous PA Army National Guard, U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy Schools studying business administration, computers, advanced logistics and procurement.

For 30 years he worked for the Defense Department as a Procurement Analyst until his retirement May 3, 1988. For several years he worked part time and then full time for the UTZ Potato Chip Co. in Baltimore and Hanover, regional manager in Martinsburg, WV and accountant in Chambersburg for MICO Corporation.

Mr. Berwager served honorably in the PA Army National Guard, Hanover and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran during the Korean Conflict.

Jerry was a past member of the Industrial Management Club, Parish Advisory Council and Adult Education Program at St. Vincent’s Church and the National Rifle Association. He was a member of AMVETS Post 22, The Republican Club, the McSherrystown Moose Lodge 720 and a life member of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees, Hanover Chapter 1797 and the Disable American Veterans Chapter 111, Hanover. He also volunteered as a polling worker for many years.

Preceding him in death were his wife Maria, father Harley, mother Anna and brothers George Elwood and William Harley Berwager. Jerry is survived by two daughters, Teresa Ann, her husband Steve, their daughters, Hannah and Grace Riedel, of Gettysburg, PA, and Sandra Elisabeth, her husband Darrel, their son Michael and daughter Emily Buchma of New Oxford, and one brother, Robert Berwager of Spring Grove, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA with the Father Michael P. Reid, II as celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Steve Reidel, Darrel Buchma, Michael Buchma, David McElwain and Robert Berwager.
