Born Janis Willyne Daily to Alphonso and Willa (Brunson) Daily on August 10, 1948 in Detroit, MI. Attended Cass Technical High School, Detroit, where she majored in Dance, and was involved with the Majorettes and Dance Workshop. She was involved in many youth activities in the Detroit chapter of the NAACP as a teen, and was named Miss NAACP in 1964. She graduated from Cass in 1965. After high school, she attended Wayne State University in Detroit, majoring in Education. While there, she was named Miss Cultural Center, and participated in the Miss Michigan State Fair pageant in 1969. While serving as Miss Cultural Center, she presided over a precursor to Noel Night in midtown Detroit. She recieved her Masters degree in the 1970s. She married Samuel Prince in September 1970. Two children were born, Samuel William II and Lisa Rene'. In November 2001, she married Davis Johnson. She was a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools and later Southfield Public Schools. She is predeceased by her parents, Alphonso and Willa, her sisters, Linda Allan and Lisbeth Anne. She is survived by her children, Sam (Amber) and Lisa; grandchildren, Hannah, Cooper, Layla and Lana; nieces Lauren, Janis (Willie), Christina, Elise (Michael ) and Laura;her aunt, Charla (Brunson) Wardell; and a host of Family and friendsto cherish her memory.
