Charles Fabius Denne, formerly of Mt. Prospect, was born on January 20, 1923 in Lincoln Twp., IA to Merle and Lavone (nee Forester) Denne. He died Monday, May 21, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV.

He was their second child, preceded by his brother Frank and followed by his brother Jack. He farmed with the family in southwest Iowa until the outbreak of World War II, which caused him to promptly enroll in the Navy. He served as a Lieutenant in the South Pacific and was put through college, including courses at Wellesley & Dartmouth, courtesy of the Navy. After the war he worked for Continental National Bank in Chicago, where he met his future wife, Marjorie and transferred to a career as underwriting manager for CNA insurance. He and Marge were married on May 29, 1948. They had two children, Bob and Jane. In the early fifties they moved from the north side of Chicago to a house they built in Mt. Prospect. Both were active in St. Paul's Church there, as well as St. Paul's school, which both Bob and Jane attended.

In the late 1970's Charles developed cancer. After his successful treatment he retired in 1985, and he and Marge moved to Sun City West, Arizona. There they helped to found a new church, Crown of Life Lutheran Church, and were very active in it until Marge’s death in 2009. After surviving another bout with cancer his health declined. He was treated for heart disease and other health problems, ultimately including a recurrence of cancer. Health issues caused him to spend much of his remaining years with his children, first in the Chicago suburbs with Bob, his wife Julia, and their children Dennis and Nina, followed by a return to a warmer climate with Jane in Henderson Nevada.

In addition to being active in his church and a great pleasure to his children and wider family, he was a loving and kind gentleman who will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
