... "Charles Anderson, affectionately known as “Brother Charley,” went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Charley was born on Oct. 20, 1941 in Albia, Iowa to Charles Mathew and Ida (Heter) Anderson. Charley was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ila “Pat” Anderson.
.
Charley worked as a motel manager, an ice cream deliveryman, and as a caregiver to his parents. While in his 60’s, Charley accepted a neighbor’s invitation to Southtown Baptist Church, and Charley became a very devout believer in Jesus Christ. Charley never missed a church service. Charley served as church treasurer, trustee, and greeter, and volunteered for every project he was physically able to do. Since Charley had no living relatives, he often referred to the church as his “family.”
.
Though most people thought Charley to be a guy of average intelligence, Charley in fact was an extremely intelligent man who knew something about almost everything. Charley had extensive knowledge of geography and historical facts.
.
A celebration of Charley’s life will be held on Thursday, May 31, at Westwood Baptist Church, 895 S. 60th St., West Des Moines. Viewing will take place from 6 to 7 PM, with a service of remembrance at 7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Westwood Baptist Church. A private burial will occur later at the RANDOLPH CEMETERY, near Indianola."
