Silver Spring -- WILLIAM (Shorty) CLAYTON FOLTZ, 84, of 17424 Astoria Lane, formerly of 364 South Cleveland, Hagerstown, died Thursday at the Montgomery General Hospital in Olney. Born in Page County, Va., he was the son of Reubin and Texanna Propes Foltz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel B. Chandler Foltz.

He retired from the Fairchild Industries in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army during WWI. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, all of Hagerstown.

He is survived by one daughter, Ruby F. Griffith, Silver Spring; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
