GREENSBURG MAN BELIEVED KILLED

John Fey, Age 54, Butcher, Had Trouble With Robert Sparks, Is Report

SPARKS IS BEING HELD

John Fey age fifty-four, a butcher by occupation, is dead at his home in Greensburg as the result of blows, it is said, inflicted by Robert Sparks, age twenty. Both were employees of the Bobrink meat market, where trouble occurred this morning about six-thirty o'clock. It is reported that Sparks struck Fey with a lard hook. Sparks is being held in jail pending an investigation by the Decatur county coroner. A report from Greensburg this afternoon stated that it was probable that a charge of manslaughter would be placed against Sparks.

The men had an argument during yesterday afternoon, it was said, at which time Sparks claims that Fey had called him a name. This morning the argument was again resumed according to reports, when Sparks demanded the Fey retract his statement. Other employes in the rear of the shop rushed to the scene of trouble in an effort to separate the men, but not until Fey was terribly beaten, it was stated. A blood clot on the brain caused Fey's death according to Greensburg physicians.

Fey was well known here and leaves a widow and two sons. Sparks is a married man with one child.
