Jean left home after high school to attend college where she met the love of her life, Joseph Puvogel. After they both graduated from the University of Michigan, Jean accepted her first teaching job and Joe joined the Navy. They married when he returned from overseas service during WWII.
When Joe passed away in 2007, they had been married for 62 years. They were undoubtedly each others best friend.
Jean took time off from her career to raise three daughters, Pam, Linda and Sandy, and then returned to teach English to her favorite age group eighth graders.
When they retired, Jean and Joe moved to Arizona to enjoy the warm weather and to be near Jeans sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jim Wicks. There she made new friends and enrolled in a great variety of classes.
Jean and Joe moved back to Michigan years later to be close to their daughters and their families. Jean was dearly loved by her extended family, including nephews and nieces.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam Mayle, Linda Puvogel and Sandy Puvogel; her sons-in-law, Jim Mayle and Michael OHalloran; and her grandchildren, Alex Mayle (Lucia Bartholomew), Kristin Mayle Hasson (Stephen Hasson), Brian OHalloran and Kathryn OHalloran.
