July 26, 1940 - May 29, 2018

James Delbert (Jim) Johnson was born in Lincoln to Arthur and Genevieve (McCaig) Johnson on July 26, 1940, and was welcomed into Jesus' loving arms in May 29, 2018. As a teenager Jim had a tropical fish business called Jim's Topical Spot. In third grade Jim spent a happy year in Arizona while his mother convalesced. He was a proud 1958 graduate of Lincoln High School. Jim was president of his freshman class at Sterling College in Kansas. He then transferred and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan where he met Jeanne Uhlmann. They were married August 3, 1962.

Jim spent his career at his family's business, Art Johnson Realty. He was a real estate broker, insurance agent, home builder and property manager. Jim was the president of the Lincoln and Nebraska Home Builder's Association. He served on many church and housing industry committees. Jim also taught motorcycle safety classes.
Jim styled his life according to: ask for forgiveness not permission, Yogi Berra's “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” and Robert Frost's “Two roads diverged in a woods and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” Jim was a favorite of neighborhood youngsters providing materials for building forts in his adjacent vacant lot and taking them to motorcycle and stock car races. Jim loved God, family, motorcycles, travel, rodeos, his numerous pets and helping others.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Johnson of Lincoln. Daughters Jill Kuhel of Lincoln and Joy Randle of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Grandchildren Alexandra (Ali) and McClain Kuhel of Lincoln and Connor Elliot of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Great-grandson Noah James Jurgena of Lincoln. Sister Jane Simmons Salem Virginia.
