Concerning James E. Orr
Funeral services for James E. Orr, who died Wednesday, were held from the Duck Creek schoolhouse, Friday morning, and were in charge of Rev. Mr. E?ls, of Admire, assisted by Rev. ?. ?. Gillham, of Reading. Interment was in Duck Creek Cemetery.
James Everly Orr was born November 11, 1857, in Macon County, Illinois. He came with his parents to Kansas in 1877 and they settled on Duck Creek, northeast of Emporia, where he had since lived. He was married to Agnes Orr in 1880. Mr. Orr was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and for many years was either superintendent or teacher in the Sunday School. He was a kind and affectionate husband and brother and a helpful friend and neighbor He is survived by Mrs. Orr and three sisters. They are Mrs. M.E. Dinwiddie, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. John Garvin, of Smith Whitney, Ind., and Mrs. J.E. Gordon, of Duck Creek.
