Hiram's burial site has not been found. He could be buried in an unmarked grave at Carlyle Cem.,Clinton Co.,IL. He came to Clinton Co.,IL from Dickson Co.,TN sometime after the 1830 census.He joined the US Cavalry May 23,1832 under Capt. Andrew Bankson's Co. under 3rd Reg.of IL Mounted Volunteers on requisition of Gen.Henry Atkinson, by the Governor's proclamation, dated May 15,1832. He mustered out Aug.17,1832, by order of Brig.Gen.Atkinson. He was absent without leave July 26,1832 (horse lost). He enlisted for 90 days.
He married Emily J.Carrigan Mar.26,1834 Clinton Co.,IL. He married his 2nd wife, Sarah Ann Parsons, Feb.15,1847 Clinton Co.,IL.
