Marian J. (Brown) Rhude, 85, of Belleville, Illinois, born May 16, 1931 in Ullin, Illinois, died on January 28, 2017 in Belleville. She worked worked as an insurance clerk in Saint Louis, Missouri, while at the same time raising her family and studying to be a teacher. She taught at Twin Echo in Collinsville, Illinois, and William Holiday in Fairview Heights, Illinois. She was instrumental in developing the gifted program in the Unit 10 school district which was known as Project Extend. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, John M. Rhude; parents, Teddie C. and Flora Belle (Adkins) Brown; son, Howard Rhude; daughter, Lynnette Staniford; three brothers, Ted Brown, Carl Brown, and Freddy Allen; and sister, Mary Windings. Inurnment with her husband at Jefferson Barracks National cemetery.
