Melvin Knaack of Gladbrook passed away after Thanksgiving and will be laid to rest at Reinbeck Memorial Cemetery.

He was born at Reinbeck and united in marriage to Mina Dahms. They farmed and raised their family in Gladbrook. In addition to farming, Melvin drove semi-truck and bus for Gladbrook Community School.

He belonged to the United Methodist Church and traveled to Guatemala on a UMC mission trip. Melvin enjoyed antique tractors and riding his horses. He was a member of the Mid-Iowa Antique Power Assoc., Marshalltown, Reinbeck Saddle Club, Gladbrook Jaycees and Gladbrook Lions Club.

A private memorial service is planned at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Gladbrook or in Reinbeck, Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, or Hospice of the Midwest in Grinnell.
