Born August 30, 1919 in Spencer, he was a son of the late Edward H. and Mildred Bensley Austin. Prior to becoming a realtor in 1949, Mr. Austin had served in the U.S. Army during Word War II and was the owner of Ithaca Real Estate Agency. He was a member of Ithaca BPOE #636, Trumansburg American Legion and Ithaca Pistol Club. He was past president of Ithaca Board of Realtors and the New York State Board of Appraisals. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife of 28 years, Doris T. Austin of Ithaca daughters, Sandra (Lee) Walker of Carnesville, GA and Gail Maureen of Rochester six grandchildren a niece and nephew.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Austin was predeceased by his brother, Alfred Austin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at the E.C. Wagner Funeral Home of Ithaca, Rev. David Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Quick Cemetery, Brooktondale.
