Clarence Bigler was cited in the Martins Ferry Times Leader on 10-21-1984. Powhatan Point civic leader dies. Clarence A. Bigler, 96, First Street, Powhatan Point, died Friday in Bellaire City Hospital. He was born June 2, 1888, in Switzer Township, Monroe County, a son of the late Fred and Anna Schlabach Bigler.
The retired owner-operator of the Powhatan Creamery, he was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Moriah Lodge #105 F & AM of Powhatan Point; a charter member of Captina Chapter #489 Order of Eastern Star; director and chairman emeritus of the board of the First National Bank of Powhatan Point; a member of the Powhatan local school board; president of the Powhatan Cemetery Association; member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Osiris Temple of Wheeling, County Board of Education, and the Board of Public Affairs of Powhatan Point.
Preceeding him in death were his wife, Elsie Ross Bigler on Sept. 2, 1973; a son, Paul Bigler, on June 28, 1972; four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Henry and Ray E. Bigler, both of Powhatan Point; a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Kathryn) Snively of Powhatan Point; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Gibson-Bauknect Funeral Home, Powhatan Point, today and Monday where services will be Tuesday, with Rev. Frank Lewis officiating. Burial follows in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point.
Eastern services will be Monday at 7 p.m., followed by Masonic services.
