BEASON, KENNETH

Funeral services for Kenneth Beason, 88, who died on Thursday, May 8, 2014 will be held at 11 a.m.Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Richard Bradfield will officiate. Burial will be in the Moragne (Hughes) Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory is directing.

Mr. Beason was born and raised in St. Clair County. At 18, during his senior year at Ashville High School, he was drafted into the Armed Services. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard an LST in the South Pacific.

While in the Navy, he learned the repair and maintenance of diesel engines. Mr. Beason used this skill for 44 years in the locomotive shop at Republic Steel.

He was a deacon and longtime RA leader at Stowers Hill Baptist Church. He was a positive influence in the lives of many boys through the years. He spent many years cutting hair for the men at the Attalla Nursing Home, viewing this as his ministry.

He enjoyed traveling with the Attalla Golden Age Club. He and his wife, Ann, had 57 loving years together.

He was a loving husband, father and Poppy who will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Beason; parents, Wiley and Janie Beason; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Allen and Mary Malone; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Floyd and Jeanette Anderson; and brother-in-law Joe McCaghren

He is survived by his son, Eddie (Debbie) Beason, Russellville; daughter, Karen Beason, Attalla; grandchildren, Caleb and Rebekah Beason; sister-in-law, Margaret McCaghren, Mobile; brother-in-law, Gerald (Judy) McCraver, Calhoun, Georgia. Special friends, Jane Padgett and Diane Green; coffee-drinking friend, Bobbie Burton; a host of nieces and nephews and special pet Molly.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and members of Stowers Hill Baptist Church; all of his RA boys; Bill Hooks, Talmadge Redden, Jerry Mack Wood, Travis Adkins, Earl McClain, Joel Osborn, Paul Jordan, Charles Atchley, Lloyd Clemmons and Jamie Beck. Special thanks goes to caregivers, Angel, Alicia, Tara, Rita and Brandi.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Stowers Hill Baptist Church or your charity of choice.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Morgan Chapel.
