Shreveport - A Celebration of Life service for Harold Burson will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park. As a young child Harold and his family moved to Shreveport, LA and attended Calvary Baptist Church where he was baptized and gave his life to the Lord. His work with Ark-La Gas took him to Ft. Smith, AR where he was a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church. He was transferred back to Shreveport where he spent the rest of his life.

Harold Dean was born in Atlanta, TX on October 4, 1932 to Jeter Morris and Lois Elisabeth Hicks Burson. He was a proud graduate of Byrd High School and attended Centenary College. Harold Dean loved his country and served as an MP in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service came to an end, he pursued a lifelong career in the gas industry, eventually retiring from Ark-La Gas as a Supervisor and worked as an auxiliary police officer for the SPD. Upon his retirement, Harold Dean became more active in the American Legion & 40 & 8. He was the commander of American Legion Post 6 for a number of years and Department Commander of Louisiana for the American Legion from 2002-2003. He was also very active with the Boys State Delegate Program. Upon his death, Harold Dean was the 2017-2018 Judge Advocate for the American Legion for the Fourth District, Department of Louisiana. Harold Dean loved to travel and one of his favorite places was Ft. Walton Beach FL with his family. He looked forward to the annual Korean War Buddies trips traveling to different places each year. He loved baseball, both playing and coaching, his country, and the many friends he leaves behind.

Harold Dean married Norma Jean Greenlee on May 22, 1955 and together they raised three daughters. Harold Dean was a loving and giving husband and father. His generosity was an immeasurable gift which will forever remain with them.

Harold Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Jeter Morris and Elisabeth Hicks Burson and brother, William Morris Burson. Left to cherish his memory are his beautiful wife, Norma Burson; sister, Judy Burson Parish (Bill); his daughters, Debra Upton (Kevin), Elisabeth Austin (Randy), and Nancy Jordan (Manley); his seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous other members of his family. Harold Dean never met a stranger and he will be missed by the many friends he made all over the country.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Savory, Dr. Robert Martin, and the staff of Live Oak for their loving care.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed; for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
