Thomas Albert Callin served five years with the North West Mounted Police. He served two years of active service with the Strathcona Horse Battalion and the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles in the Boer War in South Africa.

Thomas was listed as a steel worker when he enlisted 12 April 1915 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He served in France and Belgium and was discharged 3 April 1919; Regimental No. 276225.
