From The Salt Lake Tribune (UT) | 1 May 2000:

George ElRoy Green, age 74, finally got to "go home" on April 29, 2000. Our fighter passed away from respiratory failure after a gallant battle with multiple heath problems at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah. He pushed "determination" to a higher level.

George was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Fountain Green, Utah. He was the eighth child of George Wesley Wilson and Mariane Katinka Leonora Jensen Green. George married LuRae Cole on October 9, 1948. In his younger years, he worked as hard as he fought his ailments in his later years. His co-workers often told him he was "geared too high." During most of his life, he worked in roofing. He also worked as a turkey processor, sheep herder, rubber plant worker, and coal miner. He also served his country as a Corporal in the Army at the end of World War II.

While supporting a wife and five children, he would always find time to help a neighbor in need. He treasured the peace and quiet he found in the country. He loved the mountains, camping, hunting, fishing, model trains, and flying airplanes. He also enjoyed fixing things like cars and tinkering with electronics. He's now free to do the things he loves.

He is survived by his children, Donald, Riverton, UT, Russell, Sandy, UT, Karl, Arlington, WA, Debbie Carlson, Sandy, UT, Julie Dean, North Andover, MA; three brothers, Lloyd, Frank, Cleon; a sister, Georgia Thalman; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife LuRae, parents, brothers Wesley and Elmer, and sisters Sadie and Della.

Out of respect for George's wishes, neither a viewing nor funeral will be held. Instead, family members will hold a simple, graveside service, 2 p.m., Monday, May 1st at the Nephi City Cemetery, 4th North and 4th East, Nephi, UT. Semi-casual dress preferred.
