Michael Trion, Jr. (1761 - 1828) saw no service in the American Revolution. This was the determination made when local Berks County historian Schuyler Brossman wrote the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission on May 27, 1975. Brossman subsequently annotated this letter with the remark that the office had no record of him serving during the Revolutionary War. This letter is in the collection of the Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society, Womelsdorf, Pa.

Michael Trion, Jr. studied under his father and became a doctor. When he turned 18 in 1779, he would have been obligated to serve two months of militia duty per Pennsylvania's 1777 Act to Regulate the Militia. However, my thought is that he may have been exempted from military service because he was assisting his father's medical practice and was a medical student.

Michael Trion, Jr. did serve with the rank of Lieutenant in the Berks County Military during the inter-war period between the American Revolution and the War of 1812. The Pennsylvania Archives shows his service was in 1794. However, he saw no actual War service during this period and normally this is required for veteran status eligibility.

Below are listed the two Pennsylvania Archives citations regarding Lieutenant Michael Trion (Jr.) in the Pennsylvania Militia during the 1790s:

1. 6th Series, Vol. 4, pg. 438
