Michael Trion, Jr. studied under his father and became a doctor. When he turned 18 in 1779, he would have been obligated to serve two months of militia duty per Pennsylvania's 1777 Act to Regulate the Militia. However, my thought is that he may have been exempted from military service because he was assisting his father's medical practice and was a medical student.
Michael Trion, Jr. did serve with the rank of Lieutenant in the Berks County Military during the inter-war period between the American Revolution and the War of 1812. The Pennsylvania Archives shows his service was in 1794. However, he saw no actual War service during this period and normally this is required for veteran status eligibility.
