"Because of his youth (age-24) and his unattached marital status, the Campbell family asked John R. Campbell to follow his Uncle Jakob to Colorado and care for him in his declining years. Jakob Campbell, described in the 1880 census as a farm laborer, born in Maryland, remained single all his life because of distrust and detestation of women. He died at age 93 Feb 16 1889 and is buried in the Schultz/Campbell family area in Franktown Cemetery." page 45 of OUR HERITAGE People of Douglas County" book published 1970. (this would be the year 1873)
