Thomas Hart Benton Garoutte is the 14th child of Samuel, Sr. and Jane (Reynolds) Garoutte. He was born on January 11, 1847. He married Mary Elizabeth Shockley (born December 30, 1846) on December 7, 1864 with Reverend Leroy Vernon officiating. Thomas served in the Civil War as a soldier and a bugler. He served with his brother, Anthony Jackson Garoutte.

Gravesite Details

There is no visible gravestone any more. In the year 2000, there was a flat, smooth, creek stone with Thomas' name painted in red on it that was used for his marker. But after searching the cemetery in 2018, the stone is no longer found.
