Albert "Bubba" Bailey
(July 16, 1960 - May 22, 2018)

Albert "Bubba" Bailey, age 57, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home in Vaiden, MS after a battle with cancer. Albert was born July 16, 1960 in Winona, MS, son of the late Dearl Bailey and Helen Bailey (Copeland).

He grew up in Vaiden, MS, where he worked with his father clearing roads, digging ponds and helping tend to the family land and cattle amongst other things. He worked various jobs including working at a furniture factory before becoming a professional truck driver and moving to Mobile, AL where he lived for 22 years. In over 32 years as a professional truck driver he hauled windmills, clothes, furniture, jet fuel, nitrogen, oxygen and everything in between as he traveled across the country. Bubba returned to Vaiden and lived there his last ten years continuing to drive a truck up until his diagnosis with cancer.

Bubba loved to go deer hunting but not quite as much as he enjoyed going fishing. No matter if it was catching flounder and crabbing on the coast or catching bass and crappie from the pond in his backyard, he just enjoyed being on the water. He had a special touch where many times he would be the only one catching fish while everyone else tried to figure out what his secret was. He was an avid professional wrestling fan and enjoyed watching deep sea fishing shows, scary movies and riding his Harley. During his off time if he wasn't watching the hummingbirds through the window he was always finding something to work on, as he had a knack for fixing things.

He is preceded in death by his former spouse, Deborah Bailey; and sister-in-law, Bay Cook.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennah Bailey (Matt); sisters, Nancy Hopkins, Kathy Cooper (James), Martha Denton (Bill); brother, Wesley Cook; cousin and good friend, Jerry Shirley; good friend, Pete Bailey; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oliver Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service Sunday at Hopewell Cemetery in Vaiden, MS.
