Funeral services for Paul Wayne “Bud” Ford, of Rosston, are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Rosston United Methodist Church with Rev. Doyle Henderson and Rev. Frank Lorne officiat ing. Interment will follow at Rosston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 24, prior to the service. Arrangements are under the care of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Ford was surrounded by his family when he passed away April 20, 2018 in Gainesville. He was 87 years young.
Bud was born May 4, 1930 in Rosston to Archie and Annie Mae (Bewley) Ford. He began his 66 years as a devoted husband when he married Louise Pat Miller on May 20, 1951 in Den- ton, Texas. Also, an amazing dad and grandfather, he was affectionately known as “PawPaw” to those who loved him. Bud served honorably in the United States Navy. While in the service, Bud served on the Honor Guard for the reinterment of Ernie Pyle, a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, at Punch Bowl Cemetery (now National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific) in Honolulu, Hawaii. He retired following over 30 years with General Motors. Bud’s passion though was with the soil and his horses and cattle – he was a farmer and rancher his entire life.
Among Bud’s many accomplishments are: auctioneer, ranch rodeo announcer, charter member of Rosston Volunteer Fire Department, tracker, community historian, and patron of nature and wildlife – a love which he instilled in his family. Bud volunteered immeasurable amounts of time and energy to his community. His good nature and work ethic acted as inspiration to his family and those around him. Although he will be dearly missed, his legacy and the example he set will keep him alive in our hearts.
