Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, May 18, 2018 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mary Beatrice “B” Fleming Coussan who was born September 4, 1926 in Alexandria, LA.
“B” passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on May 11, 2018 in Lafayette, LA.
Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula and son-in-law, Jerry King, and, daughter-in-law, Jo Ellen Coussan, who gave her love and devotion through the years. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Mike King (Malyn), Jenifer Knight (Michael), Cheri Coussan, Ashly Morgan (Phillip), Jean-Paul Coussan (Jennifer) and Angéle Roy (Jeremy) and thirteen great grandchildren, George Knight, Max and Mikko King, Jean-Jacques and Eloise Hunter, Ainsley, Annabelle and Amelia Morgan, George, Claire and Caroline Coussan and Brielle and Liliane Roy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, P.J. and Edwina Fleming; four older brothers; her husband, Dr. G.L. Coussan and her son, Dr. George P. Coussan.
“B” attended High School at Providana Academy. She was Homecoming Queen and was Valedictorian of her class. She was an accomplished pianist who had a radio show in her teens. She attended LSU where she met Louis, and always said when he earned his Ph. D she earned her PHT (Putting Hubby Through).
After moving to Lafayette, she completed her BS Degree in Elementary Education and obtained her Master’s Degree in Education, both at ULL. She was a dedicated teacher in the Lafayette Public System teaching generations of students in fifth and sixth grade.
Friday, May 18, 2018 from 11:00AM, service in Delhomme Funeral Home – Bertrand. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00PM on Friday.
The family would like to thank her friends from church, especially Barbara Enard and her neighbor, Robert Hargis for everything he did for “B”.
