Civil War veteran, serving as a private in the 1st Missouri State Militia Cavalry along with his brother-in-law, Hiram Hatfield. First married Nancy Hatfield, who died in 1865 and next married Nancy's sister Margaret Hatfield in 1866. His daughter, Phadora is in the center of the back row. The man in the top left of the photo is another son of Samuel, Albert Harold Peery. Born April 15, 1967, Vernon MO, died in Klamath Falls, OR,1918, during the flu epidemic. The badge he is wearing spells AHTA: Anti Horse Thief Association.
