Lucille Clarissa Sayre Allen, age 97, died April 9, 2007 at West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 at Sterry Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roswell, Idaho. The Rev. Doctor Mark E. Cox will officiate. Services and cremation are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Lucille was born Oct. 11, 1909 in Burns, Kan., daughter of G. Sherman Sayre and Inise Deil Sayre. She moved to Roswell, Idaho with her parents at the age of four years, where she spent the rest of her life, except for the few months that she lived in Bend, Ore. At the time of her death Lucille's home was a quarter mile from the location of her first home in Idaho. She attended the Roswell school, both grade and high school, graduating in 1927. She married Homer Allen on Aug. 9, 1930. They farmed in the area until Homers retirement in 1968. She was a member and Elder of the Sterry Church, a past Matron of the Eastern Star, belonged to a Bible Study Class, the Garden Club and participated at the Parma Senior Citizens Center. She loved to work in her flower garden. Lucille was well known for her baking and for her beautiful hand quilted quilts. She took great pleasure in making them for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucille moved to Karcher Estates in December of 2005 following a stroke but continued to attend special events and church every Sunday until her death. She is survived by her son Ed Allen of Running Springs, Calif., daughter Sandra Bartles of (Roswell) Parma, Idaho, grandsons Gary (Carol), Robert, and granddaughter, Deb Leavitt (Ed) all of Wilder, Idaho, six great-grandchildren, Sara Bartles of Alexandria, Va., Andrew Bartles of Wilder, Idaho, Rachel, Rebecca and Anna Leavitt of Wilder, Idaho, Katelin Bartles of Boise, Idaho and one sister, Blanche Davison of Notus, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer, her parents, brothers Elmer, Pirl, Floyd and Reed and sisters, Bertha Doman, Leta Forsdick, and Reta Pierce.
