Daniel Aiken Succumbs at 81

Daniel L. Aiken, 81, of 160 W. Calthrop Ave., a deacon of Tabernacle Baptist Church, died last night at his home after a brief illness. He was a native of Enfield and lived in Syracuse 53 years.

Mr. Aiken retired at a tool-maker from Crouse-Hinds Co. after 35 years’ service.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jennie Chase Aiken; two sons, Fred of Reno, Nev. and Clinton Aiken of Syracuse; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Newkins(?) of Horseheads, Mrs. Norma Bronson of Lindley and Mrs. Genevieve Miner of East Syracuse; two brothers, Frank of Antwerp, and Harry Aiken of Marathon; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Vande Bogart of Wilseyville, Mrs. Ethel Mericle of Cortland, Mrs. Inez Snook of Skaneateles, Mrs. Marilla Wheeler of Buffalo, Mrs. Alice Been of Glens Falls; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tabernacle Church, the Rev. Donald Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Carl J. Ballweg Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St.
