James Gideon was the son of William O. and Mary E. "Crews" Wright. His father was born in 1812 in NC and died 15 Sep 1869 in Johnson Co., TX and his mother was born 2 Dec 1815 in NC and died in Jan 1860 in Johnson Co., TX. She died from Typhoid Fever.
James Gideon was a Confederate soldier in Co. C of the 12th Texas Cavalry in the Civil War. He was also a farmer. He married (1) Tennessee Ann Mordecai, daughter of Isaac R. and Mary Ann "Smith" Mordecai, 29 Oct 1862 in Brownsville, Prairie Co. Arkansas. They were the parents of 10 children. Of the 10, only three lived to adulthood and were married. They were William Lee, Jerusha Amanda [Penick] and Edward H.
After the death of Tennessee Ann on Oct 29, 1882, he married (2) Fannie Elizabeth Presley about Jul 1883. They became the parents of 13 children, including a set of twins.
The burial location of Tennessee Ann is unknown, but believed to be somewhere in Arkansas.
