Rex Thurman Casteel, 70 of St. Louis, Missouri passed away at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri on Sunday, April 22, 2018.

Rex was born January 26, 1948 in Centerville, Iowa to Frances L. (Myers) and Thurman A. Casteel. He was a 1966 graduate of the Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri. On November 27, 1968, he entered the United States Navy, receiving an honorable discharge on August 12, 1970. Rex was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad in Brookfield, Missouri where he was on the bridge crew for several years

Rex is survived by his son, Jarrod (Heather) Casteel and his two grandsons, Hunter and Dawson of Indianola, Iowa; his daughter, Emily (Jerry) Meredith and two granddaughters, Riley Duke and Breanna Meredith of Moulton, Iowa; one brother, Max Casteel of Caledonia, Illinois; two nieces, Valarie (Chris) Wichael of Peoria, Illinois and Julie (Mike) Dierks of Kewaskum, Wisconsin and many other family members.

Rex is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kent and one sister, Tamara both in infancy.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. A private burial of the cremains will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
