My great grandma was a special lady and talented pianist. She was born in Cleveland shortly after her parents came to America from Germany. I remember her teaching me how to count to ten in German when I was a little girl.

She married my great grandfather John Benjamin Davies on 11 April 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio and they had one daughter, Jean.

Obituary: "Dorothy M. Davies, 85, of Lorain, died Thursday at the Ohio Extended Care Center, Lorain, after a long illness. Mrs. Davies had been a Lorain resident for the past seven years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Cleveland and attended the Church of the Open Door, Elyria. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jean Harnett of Lorain; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Effie Price of Walton Hills. Her husband, John, died in 1951. Private graveside services will be held at Acacia Park Cemetery, Cleveland. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Open Door. The Burmeister Funeral Home, Avon, is in charge of arrangements." (Elyria Chronicle Telegram 29 Jun 1984)
